Best Way to Apply Soft Metallic Heat Transfer Vinyl

Heat transfer vinyl (HTV), especially metallic heat transfer vinyl is thinner and softer. It has this sparkle, and shine t brings to any custom project. You can make use of metallic heat transfer vinyl to create designs that dazzle and reflects. Some are made to be quite easy to weed and apply in a matter of seconds on several textile materials. Select from a large number of variety of colors and do not be too reserve to play with colors.

i. Build, design, and place your setting to take the space of your design. When you mirror your design, flipping the design makes the design side up.

ii. Proceed to place the shiny color side on the mat with the no color side facing up, then weed and cut the vinyl.

iii. Put the canvas on the heat press and place the vinyl on the area of the canvas you want the designed pressed. Place a protective Teflon paper or parchment paper over the design and press with iron for 15 seconds at 315F.

iv. Take away the heat and aloe the design cool and cold peel the application in a single pull. Take out from the press. Note that soft metallic vinyl is not used for stacking or layering other types of vinyl materials.

ii. Then place the shiny side on the mat with the dull side facing up while cutting. Then proceed to cut and weed out the excess vinyl.

iii. Set the household iron between linen and cotton, pending the item that is being pressed. Put the fabric canvas on a flat hard surface, be sure not to use the iron steam function to get the best application press.

iv. Cover with a sheet of Teflon paper and press down iron with firm pressure for 30 seconds to 1 minute.

v. Make sure the design cools down for a few minutes before continuing to peel the application sheet. Ensure you pull only once for optimum results. In case design peels the application sheet, press down for a few seconds again.


So what fabric materials are great for heat transfer vinyl? Cotton ticks all the boxes while nylon materials do not quite cut it. Also, 100% Polyester, Spandex, Lycra, 50% cotton/ 50% polyester and 100% cotton are recommended materials.

WAYS TO CARE FOR HTV PRESSED MATERIALS

·        For proper care of the fabric, wait till about a day or two before washing the fabric.

·        Stay away from bleach

·        Allow drying on low or better still hang to dry.

·        Wash and rinse out in cold water.

With these, you are sure to make your canvas last longer and, more importantly, deliver quality for retail purposes.
